Charlize Kierpal

Charlize is a third-year Built Environment student at QUT, majoring in Urban and Regional Planning. She is passionate about developing innovative responses to urban development challenges and is driven by a strong commitment to fostering inclusive, sustainable, and community-focused urban environments.

Since joining Urbicus in 2023, Charlize has steadily built her professional and industry skills, becoming a valued contributor to the team. Her time at Urbicus has helped shape her academic and professional success she maintains a high GPA and has earned the respect of both her peers and university staff. Recognising her dedication, QUT has appointed Charlize to the Student Advisory Panel for the Built Environment Degree, where she contributes to ongoing curriculum improvement in collaboration with the Engineering Faculty.

Charlize’s passion for sustainable urban development has taken her abroad. In 2024, she was selected to attend the Planning and Design for the Just City Summer School at TU Delft, the Netherlands’ leading institution for urban design. There, she collaborated with 85 international students and participated in lectures and workshops led by globally renowned urban academics.

This experience deepened her understanding of spatial justice and sustainability in planning, further enriching her approach to urban development.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Charlize is also dedicated to youth development and the arts. She serves as lead dance coach at Mt St Michael’s College, where she mentors students through the Arts Department’s co-curricular program.
